Originally posted by tgcshock View PostIt may, in fact, not be either/or. Both may be telling the truth as they experienced it. If you hear former players of Bobby Knight talk, some of them say he was a huge positive influence on their life (both on and off the basketball court) while others felt he abused them. I don't think Knight was a different coach with one group of players than he was with the others; I just think some people benefited from the same approach that was destructive to others. Whatever you ultimately feel about a Coach Knight or a Coach Adams, you don't have to assume that one group of players is lying and the other is telling the truth. They may have genuinely had different reactions to the same experience.

Not saying any of the following is happening, but the possibility exists. You may have those who embellish because they feel what happened to them was not in the spirit of just being "coach tough". You may also have those who prefer to minimize because they may feel it was warranted or that Coach still has a hold on their future. Didn't Chynna almost leave the program? Maybe she reviewed the situation and changed her mind about what, how, and why the coaching staff was doing what it was doing. This would having little to do with whether or not it was proper procedure by the staff. It's just how she viewed it anew. Also, different players from different times makes a difference in what was experienced. Who was on the staff at the time could have tempered or enhanced what was happening.

Everybody knows that Jody is intense and demanding.
“I've never seen her, in the seven years we've worked together, do anything that I would consider crossing the line.”
I seriously doubt that Gregg has ever watched a Jody Adams practice. He doesn’t have that luxury of time.
“I know she holds herself and her team to a very high standard".
She expects her team to compete at the highest of level possible. Again, we all know that.
I find Gregg’s statement to be neither accusatory or an endorsement. It is very neutral and PC in my opinion.Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

It would also not be surprising if rumors are circulating among the mens basketball players, etc. In conclusion, if Gregg didn't want to lend support, he wouldn't have made the statement.
I think Jody will be able to keep her job.
The O'Brien story where there were witnesses... Perhaps the witnesses were intimidated and afraid to come to O'Brien's defense. Getting pinned against a wall and then being called a liar when it's reported is bad enough. Then being required to apologize to the person who physically assaulted you is pretty low.
I think Jody will keep her job, but there will be some considerations added to her ability to keep her job. I think this is going to be a "clean it up or we have cause to terminate" situation.
I also see an environment of "support me or you lose your scholarship", which is about the lowest a coach can go.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
